Destiny: A Place Called “There”

One of my most favorite writers is T. D. Jakes.  His poetic prose literally makes my heart sing, oftentimes causing me to well up in tears.  He has such a gift.  In chapter nine of his book, Maximize the Moment, T. D. names  our destiny as a “place called there.”

I have spoken and taught from that chapter for close to 15 years – such wisdom, understanding, and rich description.  I recommend it to anyone who is eager to get on with life before, as he says. “the bell rings,” and the race of life is over.

In my Facebook community lesson with the same title as this blog, I will read the introductory page to you, because it is so descriptive, inspiring, and challenging.  You see, God made each of us as an object of His Dream.

Have you ever awoken and had such a great idea in your mind that it excites you, and you can hardly wait to begin to create it?  I did when I was about 28 years old.  I dreamed of, designed, and built an appliance center where each of my electrical utensils had its own little home and came fully ready for work as they were already plugged in!

If I may take some poetic license, that is how God “woke up” one day dreaming of you!  He chose your parents, your birthplace, your siblings (or not), your hair color, your eye color, your size, etc. as He sat at His table of creation.  He fashioned you exactly according to what He needed to complete His puzzle for this time and place in life.

That deep longing, that unquenchable thirst, that soul’s disquiet no matter what gadgets, addictions or relationships you feed it, is still hungry.  It is that search, as Viktor Frankl wrote in Man’s Search for Meaning,  in the soul’s examination of life looking for that food/fuel to energize and sustain the years ahead of you….hoping that you chase, capture, and create your destiny… before the bell rings and the other end of the dash comes:  Kem Thomas Lutz 1948 – ________.
