Living with Purpose: Life is a Choice!

I love to listen to  and read books about living with purpose.  Recently, one of my mentors, John Assaraf, told about an experiment with a group of people.  They were asked to take two days of the week, each week, and on those days to change something about themselves.  If they were normally non-sportie, they would become interested in sports for that entire day.  If they were normally very outgoing, they would be very quiet that day.  Do you know what the results were at the end of the study?  All but two of the over 100 people lost weight!   Can you guess why?  It was because they began to experience that they can make choices about who they are and what they do. They found that they can actually control their own lives.  Their circumstances and the people and advertising around them do not control them.

Everything we say, think, and do….even the food we eat and how much, is our own choice!  Wow!  How does that ring with you?  Realizing that I do have choices, and that I don’t have to simply rise or fall to my feelings or thoughts, but instead I can change what to talk about, what I do, how I think, how I act, or what I eat –  now that changes a lot of me!

We can take mindful moves in our lives.  We can decide to change that one thing that has been bugging us forever.  What is one thing that you could change?  (You can’t say your nationality or your birth order!  LOL).  Seriously, what could you change if you focused?

I began to look at my life to see what seemed to distract, dominate, depress, and confuse me.  There was a stream of it for years!  One day it hit me – If I’d just fix that one problem, make a choice to change my imaginative thinking/feeling/behavior on that one subject. — If I could be laser-focused on my choices in that area, I could cause so much more peace, satisfaction, and joy, along with a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence.  Believe me – it works!

So today, pick just one thing that stands in your way.  Choose to change your thoughts, feelings, and behavior in that area.  Start living with purpose!  See what happens for you!. Life is a choice.  Choose how to live it!
